At an event held at New York City today, Microsoft announced its new addition to the growing Surface family of devices - Surface Pro 3.

Touted as the tablet that can replace your laptop, Surface Pro 3 is powerful, portable and designed to maximize productivity in a sleek, premium tablet package.


·         Surface Pro 3 has a large, 12” ClearType HD color-calibrated display, a continuously adjustable kickstand, improvements to processing power, upgraded camera, and it is still 1.76 lbs (approx. 800g).

·         Surface Pro 3 comes with the all-new Surface Pen, cased in aluminium and with 256 levels of pressure sensitivity for a smooth and precise writing and drawing experience, it looks and feels like a real fountain pen.


·         A great laptop replacement needs a great keyboard experience, and Surface Pro 3 delivers with a new, larger Type Cover with an improved trackpad experience that, paired with the Surface Pen, gives Surface Pro 3 unmatched versatility as a tablet or a laptop

According to the Surface blog, the Surface Pro 3 will be available for pre-order from Microsoftstore.com at 12:01am 21 May (US Eastern Time) and and at Microsoft retail stores and Best Buy in the United States. It will be available for purchase in stores and through authorized resellers beginning on June 20th in the US and Canada and, by the end of August, in 26 additional markets including Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Kingdom.
